PACK NEWS

Scouting For Food

On the morning of Saturday, November 6 Scouts went door-to-door hanging bags on doorknobs for residents to donate canned and packaged foods for hungry people in our community. On Saturday, November 13 the Scouts returned to pick up those bags which were filled with canned and boxed foods. The Pack then collected the food and delivered to the Safeway. This year's SFF was once again a success in providing local families with food for the holidays with all of our Dens participating.

Pack 689 Helps with an Eagle Project

Have you seen the United States lately?  I mean the whole country? If you have been on the basketball court at Henderson then you have.  Eagle Scout candidate Jake Wilson with Troop 189 spent one Saturday morning in October with several of his fellow scouts painting the United States on the basketball court as a service project helping the community.  Jake needed some financial help with this vast undertaking and Pack 689 helped him out with a small donation.  Pack 689 was able to participate in one of the aspects of the scout law, being HELPFUL, since we showed concern for others and willingly helped out a fellow scout who was helping out the community.

Pack 689's Hike on the Appalachian Trail and C&O Canal Historic Trail at Harper's Ferry

On Saturday, November 6 Den 6 hosted a Pack Event to Harper's Ferry. After carpooling up to Harper's Ferry, we rode buses up to Bolivar Heights and ate our bag lunches. We then watched an artillery demonstration by a Confederate reenactment group. The Scouts really took it in! Then we hit the Appalachian Trail. The Tigers lead the pack across the River to the Historic C&O Canal for a total 3 mile hike.
