[1973], 10:30 a.m. All who desire to
become charter members of St. Matthew’s will have an opportunity to sign the
Charter document this Sunday during the worship service. This action is
the first step toward formal organization of the church. The signing of the Charter serves as a
written expression of personal commitment to the life of the congregation.
[from St. Matthew’s June 1973 newsletter] During this time St. Matthew’s was worshipping at
the Occoquan Elementary School with 9:15 SCS and 10:30 a.m. worship. Pr. Bohannon was working with Jack Reisch,
Building Secretary for the Lutheran Church as we considered purchasing the
property on Old Bridge Road. Another article in the newsletter: St. Matthew’s
becomes ACTS sponsor. Our congregation
recently became the 23rd church to support the ecumenical Action in
the Community through Service. . . .We
have pledged an initial $15 a month ($180/yr) to support this program. Currently we have a budget figure for ACTS for 2003
of $8000. The majority of the $18,000
pledged to the Samaritan Fund also helps ACTS clients. JOIN US ON
