The Westridge Waves is our community swim team, one of more than 20 teams which form the Prince William Swim League (PWSL). The Waves are made up of children ages 5 to 18 who live in the Westridge Community. We would like to stress that your child doesn’t have to be an experienced swimmer to join our team. Many people have come to us with the perception that a child needs to be a proficient swimmer to be part of the Waves. This perception is completely wrong! As a matter of fact, we love all the new swimmers that join us every year. It is amazing to see them improve their swimming skills in such a short period of time. We only require that your child is capable of getting across the pool without help. Our magnificent coaches will take care of stroke and turn development and proficiency.

It is Never too Early or too Late to Join Our Swim Team!

Yes, the sooner you expose your child to our swim team, the better. They get to have fun for many years! If your child has never been part of the Waves, as long as they meet the age requirement, they can join us this year. Swimming is a great sport. It exercises the whole body and you may find in your child a great swimmer. Remember, no previous experience required.

Swimmers, parents and coaches are all an extraordinary group of people dedicated to enhance the sense of community through our swim team. Your child, as well as you and your family, will get to make new friends. If you are new in Westridge, you will be amazed to find out what a remarkable group of people live in this community.

Swim Team Membership Requirements   Information:

Speed is definitely not a requirement, but safety is. The purpose of the team is not to provide swim lessons to those children that can not safely cross the pool under their own power. IF AFTER TWO WEEKS, IN THE OPINION OF THE COACHING STAFF, YOUR CHILD IS NOT CONSIDERED WATER SAFE, THEY WILL BE ASKED TO TRY OUT FOR THE TEAM AT A LATER DATE AFTER THEY HAVE RECEIVED ADDITIONAL SWIM LESSONS.

The cost for joining the Waves is $75.00 per child. (If you register after May 31, 2005 the cost will be $80 per child). In addition, there is a one time fee of $35 per family for fundraising.

Refund Policy: If your child withdraws from the team during the first two weeks, you will receive a refund of $75. If this is your only child on the team, the $35 fund raising fee will also be refunded. No refund will be issued after two weeks.

Registration and medical forms will be available at the Clubhouse during registration. You can also download and print them from the links below. Please make sure you fill out both the registration form and the medical form. Due to insurance requirements, no children will be allowed to participate without the medical forms being signed.
